Petrified Coral

Petrified coral in your collection is orange/red. Almost always in the shape of a stick with knobs or short branches. It could happen that you’ll get a round piece of coral.

Magical Powers:

I can feel straightaway when you are tired and washed-out. Strangely enough… you’ll take me automatically out of your collection when needed. I will give you my power, but in doing so I will lose my colour. So look after me to make sure I regain my colour and magic!

Petrified coral comes from the MiYu island Gemini. Coral is very useful during a walk on the bottom of the sea. The smell of red coral scares off sharks and even sea snakes! The powder of petrified coral helps against the sting of the deadly jackass-snail.

Coral grows underwater out into a real coral reef (a sort of organic building) sometimes as big as an island! But coral is actually not a plant but a protected animal. Coral isn’t build out of crystals but lime. Coral sort of ‘sweats’ lime. And that’s how the coral reef gets bigger and bigger. Coral isn’t a mineral but organic! The Egypt’s thought the coral contained magical blood drops, and gave petrified coral to their dead, to protect them against the powers of evil spirits. Other old ancient people gave their children necklaces of red coral, to help them grow and strengthen their bones.

A 3.5 on the scale of Mohs’s! Not a very hard stone… You can’t burnish or wet this stone. (Usually it’s already burnished by the water.) Coral is usually cut or sawed.

Coral grows in warm places in the sea for example: Mediterrean(Italy), but also Japan, Australia, Hawaii, The Philippines and Viernam.
