Malachite

The Malachite is beautifully green with light and dark green non-transparent stripes. He usually has a irregular form with groves and even looks a bit like plastic! Though it absolutely isn’t!

Malachite comes from the MiYu island Aries. Malachite or Mexican Jade, is the stone of the Gods. Put on a crown of Malachite and everyone will believe you’re a powerful God or at least a Hero. It might also be that they will roll on the ground laughing.

The name Malachite probably comes form the word: maloche. Which is the name of a Greek plant with the same colour green. But it can also come from the word: Malakos. Which means ‘soft’ in Greek. Malachite is a very soft stone. It used to be ground to dust and then used as eyeshadow (and at the same time an ointment against eye infections) or for painting. People used to think that a Malachite with a sun carved in it would protect them against evil spirits and danger. An old story tells us you could understand the language of animals if you drank from a cup made of Malachite…

 3.5 to 4 on Mohs’s scale. Malachite is a very soft stone, it’s a gem because it looks so beautiful…look out for scratches.
