Sodalite Rough

The rough Sodalite is dark blue whit grey, white spots or stripes. It looks like this stone has white or grey veins running through it’s dark blue body. And somehow it seems like there are tiny sparkles everywhere on the stone. Just hold it in the sunlight or under a bright lamp.

 Rough Sodalite comes from the island Virgo. Rough Sodalite is even stronger then the smooth ones. The people of Virgo hardly need any water and use it’s magical powers to find the hottest places of the desert! There grow the most beautiful Desert Roses. Plumbers sometimes use Sodalite Rough to find a leek in a pipe.  

Sodalite contains a lot of sodium, which is a difficult word for salt. The Greek word for sodium is “soda” and “lithos” means stone. That’s why it’s called Sodalite! The sodium in the stone causes the white spots and stripes. The stone is known for a long time. The old Egypt’s decorated all kinds of ritual objects with this stone. And artists used to carry this stone with them for inspiration and creativity. This means: that they could make and think of beautiful things.

A 5- 6 on Mohs’s scale. Which means that if you carry a ring of Sodalite you have to watch out for scratches.
