Colour, pattern, shape:	A heliotrope is actually a green jasper. Every now and then you will find one with a red stain but it is rare. Usually it is entirely green.

Fun to know:	Green jasper is also called blood jasper due to the some times has blood red spots this stone can have. These spots are a result of the rusting of the iron inside the stone. But in the Middle Ages people believed the spots to be drops of Jesus’ blood. This is why the stone became the amulet of the knights crusaders. All kinds of jasper are and have been used as amulets.
